It was about 3pm and the students get out at 3:15. Next thing you know, the principal comes over the loudspeaker with this message:
"Okay, there is nothing to panic about, but we need all of the teachers to escort their students to their lockers after school, and then out of the building. And all students must head directly home after school for their safety."
Great. Sounds fun. And you know, I'm great protection for my students. Having 5 feet tall, 115 pound me escort them to safety sounds like a great idea!
Well, needless to say, none of the teachers listened. I got into the hallways and as always, the students were running around like nothing was wrong. I booked it out of there. I wasn't getting caught up in anything that I might regret being around for later.
As soon as I get out the door, I think I see the culprit. Remember the gangs I was telling you about? Well, right across the street there was about 30 of them hovered around a truck and a gigantic creepy van. Oh, and not one police officer in sight. Of course.
However, I'm not so sure if that was the problem. There could have very well been another problem on top of that.
I'll find out tomorrow.
Anyway, I usually wear my hair up in a bun when I teach because I'm way too lazy to do my hair in the morning. Today I woke up early, however, and had my hair down.
The kids were in a frenzy. Every five minutes: "Whoa! Miss H. you have your hair down!"
The consensus was that I should wear it down from now on. We'll see. I'm not going to lie, it was a lot less high maintenance. I always gotta fix my bun during the day, but my long wavy hair kinda does it's own thing and I don't need to play with it much.
