And so it begins. I had my first post break-up kiss. It was nice. We were walking in a beautiful northwest Philly neighborhood. It was dark and quiet, minus the cars passing by. We looked into the window of a grooming business and a poodle was getting his hair chopped off. The kisser (a stand-up comedian from Kensington) gave me a piggy back ride in the middle of a one-way street.
And when we got to his car, he asked me how I felt about our meeting. I told him it was fun and gave him a full analysis. He smiled. Then he leaned in to kiss me and I hesitated. He said "No?" Silence for a second. Then I said, "Just for fun?" He said "Just for fun? Sure! I like that." So then we kissed, for fun.
I've been so good since the break-up. No rebounds, no irresponsible decisions. It was nice having a cute no-strings-attached kiss under a yellow tinted city light. It was nice being told that I'm beautiful and that my hair is gorgeous.
I decided to continue with the casual dating scene and continue to make well-calculated decisions like last night.. just for a little bit of fun. I see myself working hard on my career for the next few years so I deserve some harmless kisses under the moon.
Today I am going to hang out with my bestie. Might head to a flea market. Might eat ice cream. Might go on a long walk. Life is good right now. Now if only I could stop being so down on myself about _____.
